We invite you to get to know NARI North Texas member & remodeler, Colin Pedigo, Certified Remodel Project Manager as well as President and CEO of Pedigo Construction Group. Colin grew up in the construction business. His father worked in commercial finish out and landscaping. In the 1990s, Colin built new construction. In 2001, he started both commercial and residential remodeling. By 2012, he moved his focus to residential interior remodeling exclusively.
About Colin & Pedigo Construction Group
Colin’s company, Pedigo Construction Group, specializes in residential interior remodeling. Most of those remodeling projects are for kitchens and bathrooms. Their average kitchen remodel costs around $65,000 plus appliances and the average bathroom remodel costs around $40,000. For more details on their prices, check out their website.
When someone allows Pedigo Construction Group to work in their home, Colin feels it is a great honor. He says “Home remodeling is a very intimate form of construction. We are in their bathroom, their kid’s bedrooms etc. I feel a sense of responsibility to earn that right.” When it comes to his favorite part of the remodeling process, Colin loves reaching the finish line, seeing the satisfaction on the client’s face and knowing that his team made the client’s dreams come true.
One of Colin’s favorite remodels, although he admits it’s hard to pick one, was a master suite remodel in Lake Highlands. There were many obstacles and design complexities in order to take the space from what the client had to what they wanted. For Colin, these challenges are where the fun is at. Adding to the fun, the young couple were expecting their first child, putting Colin and his team up against a clock that they had no control over. He said “We finished the job just in the nick of time. We were installing the final hardware while she was in labor. They got to witness the final product for the first time with their new daughter.”
Why NARI
Colin decided to become a NARI member because he recognized it to be “the leading association to be in if you want to call yourself a remodeler.” He was introduced to NARI through a peer and saw benefits in not only meeting supplier contacts but also through fellow remodelers. Colin’s hope is that he can pass on as much knowledge as he has gained from being a member.
Colin urges homeowners not to only look at the price of a bid when considering a remodeler. He says many times, NARI remodelers will have very similar bids for the same project. Colin’s advice is to interview the remodelers and ensure that they adhere to the NARI code of ethics. Colin advises to “choose the one whose personality is most conducive to a good working relationship, the one they communicate best with, the one that they trust the most to have in their home and deliver the outcome they desire.
By choosing a NARI professional, they know they are getting someone who will not only finish the job but actually be around to warranty it as well.”
