Dirty laundry, cleaning supplies, backpacks and shoes – not really what we think of when we think of our favorite room in the house, is it? Far from being our favorite room, for many of us the Laundry/Utility Room is just a sterile, ordinary space that we’re forced to pass through, while we take care of the needs of our home. On the other hand, what if it could be a space that is fun, organized and beautiful, and actually makes our day just a tiny bit more fun?
In the public areas of our homes we thoughtfully consider paint and fabric colors, showing care and restraint; stylish, but nothing too daring or bold. What if we had one space in our home where, for very little expense, we could cut loose a little, show a little whimsy and add elements that make us smile as we go about our day.
Go for it, have some fun. Paint cabinets a bold color, add some graphic wallpaper, great light fixture, or hang some of your favorite art! Then, think out of the box for creative storage ideas, such as baskets or jars.
